Underworld

by Stephen Paden

Ocean Blue in the midday sun
you give Her children nowhere to run
to scream their anthems with delight
and take still refuge in the night
wavering green in your embrace
where silver fish are commonplace
but if this wavering sea is home
no longer can they ever roam
to search for lands once bright and green
no longer are they ever seen
once towered above now lurks below
a world that they will never know
