The Business of Being Birds

to be a bird
with seldom a care
just a tender breeze
to take you there
but ‘there’ is never
a permanent place
it’s just a pause
from nature’s race
to feed and preen
and look around
to hear the Mother’s
purring sound
so don’t be late
for winter’s call
when birds fly south
one and all
