I went to the doctor yesterday
she ran an EKG; I thought that was great
when she read the results, she said
“At some point, blood didn’t reach a certain part of your heart,
and now that part is dead.”
I nodded and said, “Doctor, I can relate.”
This isn’t really a poem,
it really happened, you see?
but if I’ve learned anything these days,
it’s that I’ve got to take care of me.
