In the Heart of a Fire in the Deep Blue Sea

by Stephen Paden

Though eternally blue
I trip through the sea
a vast playground
never calling for me
drowned in tequila;
thrown against the rocks
it feels the same
as the last time we talked
only I dont care
your colors are gone
i remember the lover
that never came to my door
but you, nothing
i sit back on the couch
the waves wash over
in agave fire
burning blue
the embers cool into
dim passion
that still resides
in the heart of a fire
in the deep blue sea
