Neptune Sea

by Stephen Paden

Two flowers, growing out from me
each arm is reaching through the sea
dreams ebbing, flowing with the tide
on Neptune’s rolling soul

Though home the flowers call the sea
their roots, they are not far from me
though thinner as they disappear
into the tempest roll

What lurking in the darkness finds
a tethered thought that darkness binds
to touch, to will, to love the thing
that Neptune cast aside

The darkness underneath the light
the phantoms never knowing sight
embrace the deep below his heart
and Neptune will abide

The ocean moon; eternal light
within your vast, eternal night
moon hidden from the tempest soul
on Neptune’s rolling tide
